Baths

Relax, take a bath!

Just the other day a co-worker was complaining to me about her back pain and how tired she was at the end of every day. She said the only relief she could get was from a heating pad or hot water bottle. After listening to her complain, I asked her if she ever tried taking baths for it.
She practically sneered. Oh heck no! She never takes baths. No time for that, between work and picking up the kids, fixing dinner, house cleaning, yada, yada, yada.
I’ve heard this comment before from women, especially mothers with young children. I always think the same thing: how sad!
Sad because they think they are too busy to take time out for themselves, or maybe think they don’t deserve to. Sad because taking a bath is one of the most cost effective ways to do something positive for your physical, mental and spiritual health!

How can a bath do all that you ask?

Water is a primal. The benefits of hydrotheraphy have been known since ancient times. Immersing your body in warm water relaxes your muscles and tension flows from your body. When your body is relaxed your mind is free to focus on other things. Two of the body’s chakras (energy centers) are most affected, the root chakra (earth element, grounding, self connection) which is located at the base of the spine and the second chakra (water element, sexuality, emotions) is located in the lower back /groin area. I’m not going to get into a big long explanation about chakras here, but this could explain why you feel so renewed and sexy after a bath!

The addition of bath salts to the water makes your bath time even more therapeutic. Salts help draw toxins from the skin while delivering valuable trace minerals back to it at the same time. Bathing with salts leaves your skin feeling amazingly soft and supple. You’ll begin to notice the difference after a couple of baths in salts. Not all salts are the same, some have more minerals than others, such as Dead Sea and Himalayan salts. In my opinion, a bath with any salts is better than a plain bath. Salts also help with skin conditions and sore joints and muscles.

So before I get off my soap box…no pun intended…here are my top ten reasons in no particular order for taking a bath other than getting clean:

1. Stress relief

2. Relieve soreness

3. Detox

4. Soften skin

5. Time out for reflection

6. Self pampering

7. Restful night sleep

8. Relax

9. Feel sexy

10. I get my best ideas in the tub

You have to wash anyway…so why not steal a little time to pamper yourself. Don’t you think you’re worth it? Take a bath tonight!
